Fractionated Coconut Oil is also called Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and is produced by a heating process. The raw coconut oil is distilled (in a similar process to making essential oils) which removes the long chain fatty acids that cause it to solidify. What's left is an oil that is very similar to skin's sebum (naturally produced oil) that can be used as a make-up remover, oil cleanser, massage oil, hair conditioning treatment or other body oil base.
It is considered non-comedogenic meaning it will not clog pores, which can lead to blackheads, irritation and infected hair folicles.
Unlike raw coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil has no scent and provides an excellent mixing base to learn how to build aromatic blends and beginner's perfumery. As a clear oil the subtle hues of the oils you blend with it will come through, for example, blending it with blue Chamomile or Yarrow, the green hues of Tamanu or Acai, or the rosey-sunset hues of Pomegranate or Rosehip.
