OILS & BUTTERS
The basis of the recipes begin with pure oils and butters from plants. These form stable cradles to infuse more botanical magic into, providing a platform to make body oils, creams, lotions and treatments. Delicious, indulgent, nourishing and soothing.
Macadamia
An amazing regenerative oil that is similar to Argan Oil (Morroccan Oil) but less expensive. Contains mono-unsaturated acids and Palmitoleic acid and is loaded with Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids to promote youthful, soft skin.
With a faint and pleasant nutty aroma it's suitable to use as part of a body oil blend or facial oil preparation. Hair will love it too.
Jojoba
Quite simply the most versatile and beneficial oil around, Jojoba (pronounced 'ho-ho-bah') is similar to our skin's own sebum. It has a very mild aroma and will not interfere with your scent creations. It is actually a plant wax that behaves similar to an oil, and will go cloudy at very low/cool temperatures. Contains tocopherols, peptides, lipids and antioxidants including Vitamin E.
Pomegranate
The original superfruit contains skin protective qualities with ascorbic acid (VitC), ellagic acid, pantothenic acid (B5), potassium and antioxidants for intense skin revitalizing
Camellia
Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil - Australian Certified Organic
A light, low odour oil that absorbs deeply into the dermis with a non-greasy feel. Delivers fatty acids and antioxidants to skin cells, promoting elasticity.
Contains up to 80 % oleic and 9% linoleic acid with Vitamins A, B, and E, providing antioxidant, disinfectant and germicidal properties.
Coconut
Non-comedogenic meaning it will not clog pores, which can lead to blackheads, irritation and infected hair folicles.
Unlike raw coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil has no scent and provides an excellent mixing base to learn how to build aromatic blends and beginner's perfumery. As a clear oil the subtle hues of the oils you blend with it will come through
Cacao
The creamy coloured vegetabel fat is extracted during the process of separating the cacao nibs from the bean. Cacao Butter has a sweet, creamy, vanilla-like aroma. This raw cacao butter has not been refined, bleached or deodorised, just filtered to remove any processing particulates.
It's perfect for applying to skin with a host of valuable oils, fats and other nutrients... and is naturally high in antioxidants.
Olive
So nutritious and delicious that it's easy to see why we use this oil inside and out! Rich in vitamins and nutrients, its anti-inflammatory and soothing benefits for skin make it pure skin food.
Shea
used primarily in skincare products for its emollient and protective qualities. The extract of the Shea nut is rich in cinnamic acid which protects skin from UV rays, plus its nutrient dense formula make it suitable to treat all kinds of skin conditions.
It is considered mildly anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, so it addresses concerns with reddened or irritated skin like eczema, psoriasis and even rosacea. It will soothe sunburn and promote healing for scars, deep wrinkles and creases, therefore it's great for an all-over product that can heal and prevent premature aging.
This is a naturally refined Shea that is processed with citric acid, clays and charcoal to remove particulate; creating a smooth, pale butter.
Mango
A decadently creamy butter high in Omega 6 makes a great barrier protection addition to any skincare formulation. Non-greasy on the skin it's perfect for cosmetics, skincare, haircare and bodycare products.
Arrowroot Powder
An incredibly versatile plant starch that helps to soothe irritated skin. It provides a gorgeous silky texture to cleansers and is a natural emulsifier used to thicken formulations. Gluten free, suitable for the most sensitive skin and naturally resistant to genetic modification, it's a plant powder we can all embrace with ease. MEM uses certified organic Manihot esculenta (Southern Hemisphere Arrowroot) throughout the skincare and bodycare ranges. Ghassoul
A volcanic clay, its prized for cleansing and detoxing with luxurious 'slip' perfect for clearing congested or inflamed skin. Make your own spa-at-home body masque for smooth, clean, soft skin. Can be used on the face, neck and shoulders to address hormonal outbreaks.
Jasmine Green Tea
Repair, restore and rejuvenate with the antioxidant beauty boost that is Jasmine Green Tea. Certified Organic Camellia sinensis tea is lightly scented by Jasmine flowers, this means that MEM's Jasmine Green Tea infusions and herbal tea blends contain no essential oil or Jasmine flower parts, so it is perfect for those with sensitive skin that want to enjoy an opulent, uplifting and pretty aromatic in their skincare... without the reactions.
Beeswax
A gorgeous ingredient to work with, MEM uses Australian beeswax from ethically maintained hives and from abandoned hives when available. With its pale cream to deep golden colour, subtle honey and smoke aroma, it is utilised in the Solid Organic Perfume Balms to enhance the matrix of olfactory alchemy. You'll also find it in the customer favourite 'DIY Lip Balm Kit'!
Riceflour
Before we knew anything about potent plant acids that support and protect our skin from UV damage, Ayurvedic and Chinese holistic health systems were using this gentle and effective ingredient in skincare regimes thousands of years ago! Used in MEM's products as a gentle starch to bind with excess oil and dirt, helping to remove dead skin cells and reveal a brightened complexion. Also, two thumbs up for being gluten free and suitable for coeliac's and sensitive skin.
Cacao
Packed with essential vitamins and minerals to detoxify our skin; raw, certified organic, cacao powder is a luxurious ingredient that helps repair and protect our skin. MEM uses Cacao powder as a natural tint in Everyday Solar Balm and EnviroProtection Lotion.
Hibiscus
Certified organic Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa) flowers are used for their purifying and clarifying effect on the skin. High in Vitamin C and anthcyanins, it's a natural antioxidant power house.
Candelilla
A plant wax used for providing a high shine, making oils emulsify and giving an extra hardness to formulations. You'll find this (and Carnauba) in MEM's Lip & Cheek Tints, as well as lotions, butters and cream formulations.
Kaolin
The gentlest clay, sourced from Australia. Used to provide a deeper cleansing action it's used in skincare, bodycare and oralcare preparations to draw out impurities. Containing only Kaolin and Quartz powder it is a great 'carrier' for specialist ingredients we may only require small amounts of, for example, specialised facial masques using one of the Facial Oils or Elixirs. They create a high end product made fresh by you, for a fraction of the price and sans the preservatives that ready-made masques would have. This makes it an attractive 'go to' for anyone with sensitive and overwhelmed skin.
Hyaluronic Acid
Plant derived Hyaluronic Acid is a reparative, restorative maintenance product to help restructure and refine anyone's complexion, regardless of age or skin type. One of the 'ingredients' in our collagen (and what helps to both make it and protect it) is this marvellous stuff called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). It helps to retain moisture levels in our skin cells and the connective tissue of our dermis. As a topical application it helps to restore suppleness, smoothness and elasticity. As a cosmetic ingredient, it's a humectant, drawing water into the cell structure assisting with basic detox functions within the cell.
Carnauba
Certified organic Carnauba Wax is harvested from a kind of palm tree found in Brazil. It has many uses but primarily used in MEM's formulations to provide robust structure to butters, creams and lotions. It's an all natural emulsifier and thickener.
Red Reef Clay
Rich in iron oxides and manganese, this sediment clay is a high level antioxidant, but with its intense colour capacity it's used in MEM's Lip & Cheek Tints in varying levels to impart a rosey hue.
ESSENTIAL OILS
These are the concentrated volatiles used in diluted amounts throughout the skincare range. In perfumery, combinations of essential oils, macerations and infusions create what I refer to as 'liquid light'. Bright and unfolding in unique timing, a botanical aromatic is far more than mere scent.
Lavender
The all-rounder, all-purpose, all-knowing oil. Even though this can come across as a strong scent, it is able to be used topically at full strength, and will provide swift relief to burns with direct application. Used to calm the skin, heart, emotions and spirit, this is the everything oil for everyone. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial... pro-'chill'.
Pink Grapefruit
Pretty in Pink right? Grapefruit is lovely, juicy and energising, and Pink Grapefruit is all that plus 'pretty' too. It has a little more blossom aromatic to it and is beautifully calming while also being gently stimulating.
Tea Tree
Commonly used for its anti-bacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-parasitic abilities in skincare, bodycare and oralcare preparations. You'll find it excellent for clearing the Mind and uplifting the spirit as well as a kind of ‘cure-all’ that encourages and fortifies the immune system response and promotes healing on many levels. MEM uses a premium grade, certified organic, steam distilled Melaleuca alternifolia, which has a far more pleasing aromatic than more commercial grade Tea Tree you may have already experienced. I find this higher quality Tea Tree to have hints of floral and honey like notes. It's beautiful, uplifting and clearing!
Fragonia
Native Australian Fragonia essential oil has seemingly 'instant' balancing qualities. It calms, relieves stress, can assist with disconnecting from past emotional problems and blockages, helps with making peace on the inside, lifting grief, inducing tranquility and decreasing anxiety. It's gentle on skin and can help to gain awareness of the Present after jet lag or shift work/sleep deprivation, by using as a pulse point inhalation. You'll find it in MEM's PEACE Aromablend.
Cedarwood
Both Virginian (the Sacred oil) and Himalayan (the Happy oil) cedarwoods are used in MEM's products. Each provide astringent qualities to cleanse and tone with significant affinity for the nervous system and spirit connection.
Patchouli
Rich, warm, earthy and pungent. Patchouli is highly regarded for its ability to calm and cleanse. Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, it's used in skincare and perfumery because of its tenacious scent. Patchouli breathes a calming groundedness into a blend with sensual whispers of botanical muskiness and daydreaming calm. It is an excellent 'tonic' for the nervous system and connects the Mind to the Heart and back again.
Palmarosa
Palmarosa is a weave of several energy signatures and has a stimulating yet balancing effect on the skin and the heart emotions, promoting calm, yet also promising action.
Eucalyptus
The scent of the Australian great outdoors. Camphorous, floral, woody and fresh. Depending on the type of Eucalypt you may even find hints of citrus or mint. Delightfully useful from clearing blocked sinuses, alleviating muscle soreness and sanitising surfaces, to getting 'goo' off anything, it has a definitive 101 uses!
Sandalwood
Sandalwood acts both physically and spiritually to align the energy centres, creating a conduit for self-appreciation, self-love and acceptance of situations as being fluid in nature. This 'fluidity' shows physically in it's ability to 'sew up' cracked or chapped skin conditions.
Helichrysum
Helichrysum (Immortelle) is a powerfully regenerative and anti-inflammatory oil for the body and acts as a bandage for the spirit, taking care of it to bring it back to full strength. Deeply calming and activating of the Third Eye Chakra to allow solutions to be accessed easily.
Rose
The exalted feminine aromatic. Holding one of the highest vibrational energy levels, pure Rose is wonderful for skincare, helping to rehydrate and maintain elasticity. It soothes the nervous system and packs a mighty load of antibacterial assistance, which is often overlooked because of its astonishingly beautiful scent. Rose, the divine fragrance of Love and affection brings its signature beauty 'halo' to any blend. Deeply connective and cooling it draws moisture into the skin on a cellular level to relieve reddened complexions and heal broken capillaries.
Orange
Contains Vitamins A, B & C and as with Lemon, it is used widely in foods & beverages for flavor and nutrition.
It is also used to relieve stress and tension and acts to dispel water retention. For skin it can assist those with oily complexions by reducing bacteria and swelling. Has an uplifting and joyful aroma. Anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, anti-septic, bactericidal, carminative, digestive, fungicidal, hypotensive (lowers blood pressure), sedative (for nerves), stimulant (for digestive system and lymphatic system), tonic, choleretic (increases bile production in the Liver).
Ylang Ylang
A ribbon of floral light through perfumery and a useful tonic for many skincare issues. This bright, feminine scent brings other scents alive but is mainly used to create sensual aromatics.
Chamomile
The calming embrace of chamomile is prized in perfumery and skincare applications alike. MEM uses both Roman Chamomile and German (Blue) Chamomile essential oils and CO2 extractions. In perfumery it's used to impart notes of 'apple', gree-floral-herb, grass and hay.
Contains Bisabolol, anti-inflammatory active, proven to reduce inflamed, reddened or irritated skin. It's soothing, repairing and regenerating actions are magic for damaged skin.
Frankincense
Frankincense is a master anti-inflammatory and connects directly to the circulatory system, imparting its sacred purifying abilities from the surface to deep within the dermis. Its Light courses through the entire Being, cleansing and activating the attraction of all that is good.
Rose Geranium
Rose Geranium is a comforting and balancing oil which regulates circulation and removal of pollutants in the physical and mental/emotional states. It has a 'beautiful and strong' signature that attracts Positive Light Energy to it.
Rosalina
Rosalina is called the Lavender Tea Tree and has the relaxing qualities of both; not as strong as either Lavender or Tea Tree, but a subtle combination of each. Wonderful for using on chapped skin and to promote swift healing. The aromatherapy of Rosalina helps to relieve anxiousness, promote peace, calm and composure. You'll find it in MEM's SKY DREAMER Aromablend.
Peppermint
Used as a skin cooling agent in MEM's skincare and bodycare products, Peppermint has analgesic properties that can help to relieve muscular aches and pains when used topically. It's got all the antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral assistance you'd expect from a potent essential oil and because of its potency it's used sparingly in formulations.
Vanilla
Vanilla is used for its calming effects on the nervous system. This sweet, balsamic beauty is prized in perfumery but works wonders in skincare.
Myrrh
MEM uses an essential oil of Myrrh distilled from the resin. This ultra calming oil is magic for the senses, bringing peace to emotional turmoil, grounding scattered energy and healing the heart by anchoring the physical body. Beautifully warm, balsamic and yet medicinal in aroma, it's conversely has a cooling effect with topical applications. Being a high level anti-inflammatory it's only needed in the tiniest amount in a formulation to effect improvement for irritated, reddened or inflamed skin conditions.
Lemon
MEM uses both cold pressed and distilled essential oils of Lemon. The distilled oil is chosen for skincare formulations because it does not cause phototoxicity (won't make you red or burn when exposed to sunlight). The cold pressed peel oil contains the volatiles for digestive aide and is in MEM's helpful BURP! formulation, which is also an excellent blend for studying with, dispelling stuck or stagnant energy layers. Lemon peel oil contains Vitamins A, B & C and is used widely to flavour foods & beverages. Used to relieve stress and tension with its uplifting and joyful aroma. For skin it can assist those with oily complexions by reducing bacteria and swelling.
Calendula in Olive
Two 'queen' anti-inflammatory oils from the Mediterranean; soft, nourishing, earthy and perfect for healing ALL kinds of skin situations. You'll find this in house preparation in PANACEA Balm and Aromablend, SOOTHE Powdered Cleanser and ANGELWINGS Multipurpose Oil.
Liquorice Root in Jojoba
All the skin balancing and brightening qualities of Liquorice Root infused into skin loving Jojoba. Perfect for congested or sun damaged skin. You'll find this in the BALANCE skincare range.
Jasmine Green Tea in Jojoba
Pure Organic Jojoba is infused for up to 8weeks with certified organic Jasmine Green Tea. This makes a super antioxidant infusion of skin brightening, sebum balancing magic, used in TEA SILK Waterless Gel and DEWFALL Facial Oil.
Blue Butterfly Pea in Hydrosol
Certified Organic Blue Butterfly Pea infused Hydrosol provides a beautiful violet blue hue. The blue pigment is rich in anthocyanins which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities.
Rosehip in Jojoba
Vitamin C rich and high in EFA's (essential fatty acids; omegas), this
natural antioxidant has a pungent aroma when neat that can be slightly off-putting, so the infusion in Jojoba softens this to a more nourishing aromatic note. Brightly coloured it can help skin to radiate the 'glow' of health and vitality, bringing rejuvenation to lack lustre complexions, and regeneration to mature or damaged skin.

EXTRACTS & ESSENCES
Taking just a tiny amount of ingredient to effect visible change is how botanical extracts work. Folding them through a recipe can bring it that 'something more' that takes a simple blend to a deeply healing and restorative formulation. The same can be said for Crystal & Flower Essences, being subtle healing helpers that work with the endocrine system, in the slip-stream of our emotional awareness to create that step 'up and out' of mental, emotional and spiritual situations.
Aloe Vera
Has antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic qualities and is used as a skin healer, soother and conditioner. Helpful for treating burns, reddened or irritated skin and premature ageing, there's no downside to Aloe, it's all good. Contains beta-carotene, Vitamin B & C and folic acid.
Bearberry
Utilised as a botanical skin brightener (not lightener) it contains a compound called arbutin, a natural source of hydroquinone, that actively works to reduce pigmentation and skin tone irregularities. A potent free radical scavenger, Bearberry is also known as Uva Ursi. This astringent extract has antibacterial qualities that make it useful in skin cleansing formulations.
Elderberry Phytocide
A completely natural, botanical preservative derived from Sambucus nigra, Elderberry fruit. Protective against microbes, yeast, fungus, mould and bacteria, it is antioxidant-rich and has anti-inflammatory benefits for problematic skin conditions like eczema, acne, psoriasis, rosacea and contact dermatitis.
Grapefruit Seed
Used to support other preservative ingredients, GSE is a proven anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, antiseptic, disinfectant and preservative for a wide range of formulations.
Kakadu Plum
An Australian native plant with the highest known Vitamin C concentration of any single natural food source in the world, which means it's a power-packed antioxidant that is used to repair and protect skin. Kakadu Plum's high level Vitamin C promotes collagen production.
Green Tea
is a rich source of anti oxidants, such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Catechin - polyphenols are the active constituents in green tea that have potent antioxidant qualities valued for rejuvenating mature, damaged or aging skin. It also assists in preventing damage from the sun and promotes elasticity by encouraging collagen production.
Radish Root Ferment
Fermented from lactic acid bacteria Leuconostoc Kimichii this preservative is used in water based products for its broad spectrum anti-microbial action. It's also a powerful antioxidant, rich in Vit C and Vit A that will help to increase skin nourishment and hydration.
Crystal Essences
Essences are the infusion of energy from rocks, minerals, places and spaces. Everything in our environment, both seen and unseen, is in constant motion and emitting a frequency which we pick up as subtle messages. By infusing these messages in pure water we can use them for emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual healing and balancing.

I make the Crystal Essences using the energy of the Full Moon over the three nights of Waxing, Full and Waning. The decanted essence is then amplified using a ring of stones over a complete lunar cycle. Each step of creating the Crystal Essence is accompanied with Reiki / Energy Meditation sessions.
Liquorice Root
Contains Glabridin (heals sun damage and helps to prevent pigmentation from UV exposure), Glycyrrhizin (an anti-inflammatory, free radical scavenger) and Licochalcone A (fortifies the skin against UV damage).

Overall it assists to calm skin that may be irritated, inflamed or red, helping to balance and brighten skin tone.
Vitamin E
An active antioxidant that reduces oxidisation in an oil based formula to increase its preservative protection. MEM uses a high grade natural vitamin E that contains a minimum of 87% D-Alpha-Tochopheral with a high activity index.
Colloidal Silver
Microscopic metallic silver particles dispersed in water act as a broad spectrum anti-microbial and preservative. Silver ions are known to be anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory with wound-healing benefits for irritated and problematic skin conditions. MEM uses cosmetic grade CS at approximately 100x the strength of pharmaceutical grade formulas.
Flower Essences
Essences are the infusion of energy from plants, flowers, places and spaces. Everything in our environment, both seen and unseen, is in constant motion and emitting a frequency which we pick up as subtle messages. By infusing these messages in pure water we can use them for emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual healing and balancing.
While we may not live as close to nature as we once did, picking up these messages from our environment as a matter of daily life; we can still harness this natural progressive therapy via the use of Essences.
Rose Hydrosol
A by-product of the steam distillation process of Rose essential oil production from organic plants grown in Bulgaria. Just like Rose Oil, it helps to increase skin hydration, balance pigmentation and relieve anxiety.
Purified Water
Triple filtered and alkalised water, energetically tended with Reiki and specific intentions for healing, purifying and clarifying.
Lavender Hydrosol
The by product of the steam distillation of Lavender essential oil, it is used for cleansing and calming.
Geranium Hydrosol
A by-product of the steam distillation process of Pelargonium graveolens Geranium essential oil production from organic plants. A gentle skin soother and sebum balancer.
Sandalwood Hydrosol
The by-product of the steam distillation of Australian sandalwood oil grown under organic conditions. Soothing and clarifying for the skin and emotions.
Neroli Hydrosol
A by-product of the steam distillation process of Citrus aurantium amara, Neroli essential oil production from organic plants. Used for treating red or irritated skin conditions it has a uplifting, floral aromatic.
